a simulation engine for generating living worlds

One engine.
Infinite worlds.

One engine simulates the same forces in any world: people, traits, resources, institutions, events, and the history they leave behind. We're starting with a medieval dynasty because it's the fastest way to find out whether the loop is fun. It isn't the ceiling.

> a run

Seven generations. About twenty minutes.

A generation is one round. You make three decisions, then the engine runs the years: people work, age, marry, have children, and die. The survivors grow up and it comes round again.

Seven rounds later your civilization ends. Everything you chose along the way is still in it.

02assignments

Put every adult to work: farmer, scholar, warrior, trader.

03crisis

One event forces a call. Plague, raid, feud, a stranger at the gate.

one sitting · no save scumming · every run is different

> decide

Nothing resets. Ever.

Choose who marries, who studies, who rules. The engine works out the consequence and writes it into law. Every important event becomes a permanent modifier your civilization keeps for good.

> the engine

The engine doesn't know what a knight is.

It knows only people, traits, resources, institutions, events, and the legacies they leave behind. Swap the nouns and the same simulation runs any reality, the way Unreal doesn't know what game you're making. In all of them, code owns the numbers. The AI never decides an outcome.

> the ai

Describe a world. The engine runs it.

Writing dialogue is the small version of this. The real unlock is an AI that writes the whole world. Give it one sentence, “a civilization of sentient mushrooms that reproduce through spores”, and it defines the occupations, resources, technologies, institutions and myths. The engine takes it from there.

Once a world is running, the AI narrates every event the engine computes, and it never decides one of them. Working out what actually happened stays the code's job.

> inheritance

Every population evolves itself.

People (or whatever inhabits your world) inherit weighted traits from their parents, plus a small mutation. The same system that grows a medieval bloodline grows a colony's lineages or an alien species. Below is one line, six generations deep, from scenario 01 · emberfall.

Every civilization falls. You choose what survives.

Collapse isn't losing. It's how a run ends, every time, by famine or invasion or a succession nobody survived. Before the next world begins you keep exactly one thing from the old one.

Which is the real question the game asks: knowing everything you know now, could you build a better one?

> worlds

The scenario changes. The engine doesn't.

Same primitives, new nouns. Change what a person is, what they build, what they fear. The simulation doesn't care. Medieval is just the world we're proving it in first.
